Saffron brown rice
Cooking time: 25 minutes
Serves: 4
Rice type: medium grain sprouted brown rice
Ingredients
60 ml boiling water
¼ teaspoon saffron threads, crushed
2 tablespoons oil
½ onion, chopped fine
300 ml water or vegetable broth
215 grams Medium Grain Sprouted Brown Rice
¾ teaspoon salt
Step 1
Place the saffron threads in the boiling water and steep for 5 minutes.
Step 2
Heat the oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and cook for 5-6 minutes until softened. Add the saffron mixture, water or broth, rice, and salt and stir well. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover. Simmer until the rice is done and the liquid has been absorbed, for about 25 minutes.
Step 3
Remove from heat and fluff the rice with a fork. Cover and let stand for 10 minutes to steam. Serve and enjoy!
